T 2. JONAGOLD

 New variety raised by New York State Experimental Station, U.S.A. Triploids are usually too large for some gardens – not Jonagold. Needs central leader to support its enormous crop of large, round, orange flushed fruit with bright yellow base. Flavour is rich and sweet, with abundance of juice. Yields have been above Cox’s on trees somewhat smaller. Jonathan x Golden Delicious. Good pollinators: Discovery, Katja and Spartan. Stores until May.
