2. PURPLE PERSHORE (also known ‘Purple Plum’, ‘Purple Egg’ and ‘Martin’s Seedling’). Ideal for jam and canning. Ready end of August. Oval, medium sized fruit with heavy bloom. Firm flesh and dry. Cooking well. Vigorous upright tree. Good resistance to disease. Self-fertile.
