1. BURBANK’S GIANT (also known as ‘Giant Prune’). A similar looking plum to Pond’s Seedling, which it closely resembles in colour, size and even flavour. Long, oval, large fruit – red with darker purple and various russet dots. Greenish yellow flesh. Will travel well and looks well. Tree makes a round headed top. Late flowering and cropping well regularly. It has good resistance to frost and disease. Self-fertile. Prune D’Ager x Pond’s Seedling by N. Luther Burbank of California and introduced in the U.K. in 1897.
