3. WYKEN PIPPIN

          (also known as ‘Warwickshire Pippin’). Seedling raised at Wyken, Nr.Coventry, in the 1700s. Wyken is a parent of Laxton’s Superb. It is also the basis of the pole trees being raised at East Malling Research Station. Fruit green to yellow – more yellow on exposed faces to sun. Pick mid-October – keeps to February.
