Deacon's Nursery: Fruit Trees & Bushes
A continental apple, well thought of by our researchers. Similar to Red Delicious and strong enough to support heavy crop without breaking branches. Stores until March/April. Used commercially in our orchards. Outyields Cox and in a bad season still crops heavily. Self-fertile. Late flowering, avoiding frost. Flowers same time as Jester, Jonagold and Suntan; the next to Crawley Beauty, which is, of course, the latest of all. Suggested by Brogdale to be a red apple to follow Spartan. Raised: Hamburg, 1951.
