(or 'Jeffrey's Seedling'). Another quite early apple, which is ready in August, but will keep until February. Flat, conical to round, medium sized apple, heavily covered with broad, dark red streaks on pale green back. Vigorous cropping, with spreading habit. A dual purpose apple, as it will cook well. Raised by the Revd. Tom Putt on Trent, Sherborne, Dorset, in 1700. Sometimes used in ciders for extra flavour.
