Deacon's Nursery: Fruit Trees & Bushes
Similar to Cox - but, of course, much earlier and of useful timing. Prolific and producing good clean fruit. Tip bearing. Does well in dry districts on light sandy soil. Forms good fruiting spurs. Gala, Lady Sudeley, Laxton's Superb and Cox are good pollinators. Cox x Calvilla Blanc D. Hiver cross. Taste and flavour described as 'aromatic aniseed'. Scab and frost resistant. Self-fertile.
