Deacon's Nursery: Fruit Trees & Bushes
(‘Norman’s Pippin’). Discovered in Nottingham in 1824 by Bess Pool. Very late to flower and hence frost-proof. Picked early October – will keep until February. Fruit is almost all dull crimson, with some russeting and short, broad, dark red broken stripes. Flesh is tinged green, coarse and rather dry, but with sweet pleasant flavour. Tip bearing on spreading branches. Gets slightly waxy in store.
